I loved this. I just put the compass app on my phone so I can start figuring out which branches are on the southern side. (I am hopeless when it comes to direction on my own, Except when I get to the part of the neighborhood overlooking the canyon that goes generally east, west, I never know what direction I'm going. I can certainly try to figure out if I can use this if I have any scene where my protagonist is finding her way from one part of a forest to another!
