I’ve been enjoying your historical mysteries and your science fiction stories since the beginning of each series. I’ve been a fan of mysteries, historical fiction, and science fiction since my teen years so your books fit in perfectly. Thanks for sharing Annie and family and all the Paradisi folks.

I’m not a fan of science fiction at all. But if I was, I’m sure I’d like your series.

I started with your historical mysteries which I enjoyed for the story and the well researched aspect. I also enjoy science fiction, and was "hooked" from the first by the story and the belivability of the scenarios. Then I found your newsletter.

I haven't read any of your science fiction boos (except the chapters here on this blog) They were interesting, and I might just try the series.

I am not sure how I found Maids of Misfortune (perhaps BookBub) but I remember that when I read your novella about the seamstress sisters, I really appreciated how you valued the old ladies and their efforts. I wrote to you, saying I hoped you would use these ladies again in your series. I was surprised to receives a prompt reply. My husband and I had recently retired from a post as volunteer coordinators; his main motivation had been that these retired people should be appreciated and honored for all they knew and all they could do. That had made me aware that was often not done. I saw how in your boarding house, these ladies were valued and not belittled.

My answer from you was also very respectful. I think of you as a friend and I read each new chapter.

Sincerely, Helen Simer

Thanks for your kind words. I have to chuckle when I think about how the first draft of Maids was written when I was 39, and how characters like the Misses Moffet were just walk ons, but that by the time I started on the short story about them I was now in my early sixties, much closer in age to Beatrice, Mrs. Stein, and the Misses Moffets than I was to any of the other people living in the boarding house!!!
