Fortunate you don't also have a dust allergy as you both would have to evacuate while a cleaner does the job! I sympathize.

Yes, and we did have cleaners for years, but they only came twice a month, and with animals, and the tree pollen that gets in (another of his allergies) this really did't work nearly as well as me dusting and dust-mopping daily.

I actually got round to some dusting today. Problem is as soon as you start you have to finish the rest as you can see all of it. If you leave it it’s the same all over 😁. And you appreciate you endeavours more when you get round to it 😘

I've got this sort of feather duster (feel bad because it has replaceable, disposable padding, ) but hey, it works at getting the dust off high shelves, tops of things, and leaves me with the satisfaction of seeing how dirty it is when done. Then I dry mop (which I don't feel bad about because I can wash and reuse the mop.) And it really gets the grit and dog hair into a nice little pile I can then sweep up. I found if it do a "lick and a promise" as my mother would say, every day, things look clean enough to satisfy me. My husband simply doesn't notice when things are dusty, but I do notice, and I do notice when he starts to sneeze, or gets a headache, so it is worth it. Particularly once I learned I could start including the cleaning as part of my total amount of exercise in a day!!!

It's like Quentin Crisp's famous saying "I never dust. After four years it doesn't get any thicker."

I suspect he was completely wrong, but as an eccentric raconteur and man about town, he could get away with that.
