Tupperware also comes to mind, the storage solution for anything and everything. But, I began to notice little things like sugar and Tupperware don't mix. It gets a funny smell. Tomato based foods stain it. Heating foods in even the made-for-microwave version left residue. Special cleansers for plastic came out. I began to feel uneasy and went back to the glass Pyrex dishes my mom had used pre-Tupperware. Even before the BPA red flag appeared, I had transitioned to glass and metal. It just seems cleaner somehow.
... and to think at one point, asbestos was the bee's-knees.
