This tree may be a Carrotwood tree, it got its name from the orange color of the wood under the outer bark According to Wikipedia, the range of natural distribution is from Seven Mile Beach, New South Wales to Queensland, northern Australia and New Guinea. It likes the soil type around San Diego and is apparently easy to grow but messy in a yard or garden. Roses are easy, trees are a challenge!

I've been walking my dogs twice a day for years but I'm new to the daily walking and writing routines of a real author. Your daily posts inspire me to be a more consistent scribbler. So my thanks for sharing. It's been unusually chilly here too. (23 degrees this morning.) I'll sit right down at my writing station as soon as I get back and try to describe today's shivering stroll with my sidekick, Nigel the Yorkie. Thanks again.

I love the idea of you walking then writing. I really do find that knowing I will want to convey what I saw (or listened to) while walking makes the activity less of a thoughtless routine, keeps me more present. Thanks for sharing.
