Daily Diary, Day 846: Yesterday was a very serene day. Loved watching my grandson's open their presents on FaceTime, got a really lovely warm wool shawl from my husband, and made no attempt at writing, but just read a new book that is a mystery set in space (smile.). Also spent an hour outside sitting and reading in the sun. (Got up into the 80s!)
I had a good walk today. Almost done listening to the recent Dana Stabenow Kate Shugat mystery on audiobook, and my mindfulness theme in walking was to look for odd trees. If anyone knows the names of the trees I photograph, I always enjoy hearing them, but I have given up trying to remember the names of plants and trees. They just don't stick. I find this tree fascinating because of the roots. Don't know if this is characteristic of the tree, or just happens to be the way this one has grown.
It was warm again today, hitting 79 degrees locally, but then around 2 the clouds moved in and the temperature dropped. Now three hours later it is down to 66 degrees and dropping. Supposed to only hit high of 63 tomorrow, with some possible bits of rain off and on starting Weds. Not anything like so many of you faced or are still facing, but definitely weather!
I did get 631 words written on the novel on Saturday, and another 733 today, so I feel like I am picking up steam again. I did have two phone calls today, but none scheduled for tomorrow, maybe I can hit 1000!
But time to go fix dinner!
This tree may be a Carrotwood tree, it got its name from the orange color of the wood under the outer bark According to Wikipedia, the range of natural distribution is from Seven Mile Beach, New South Wales to Queensland, northern Australia and New Guinea. It likes the soil type around San Diego and is apparently easy to grow but messy in a yard or garden. Roses are easy, trees are a challenge!
I've been walking my dogs twice a day for years but I'm new to the daily walking and writing routines of a real author. Your daily posts inspire me to be a more consistent scribbler. So my thanks for sharing. It's been unusually chilly here too. (23 degrees this morning.) I'll sit right down at my writing station as soon as I get back and try to describe today's shivering stroll with my sidekick, Nigel the Yorkie. Thanks again.
