I have a small stuffed dog that has been on my bed since childhood and accompanied me to university as my connection to home. I also have a milk glass sugar/creamer set that I gifted my mother when I was a young girl. I think connections to our pasts are very comforting.
One -- just, one! - small object? 'Fraid that's just not on. Just about to drag out the 4'x8' train layout for the grandkids' Christmas. That is my scale. Leaving the regata-sized sailboard up on its rack in the garage to collect dust for its ~~20th year, and so on. My memorabilia box floweth over (and my book shelves)😆 Merry Christmas
Oh, that did make me laugh! I did discover in the attic this week (we were seeing if there was anything to give away to a neighborhood trash haul) that I still had my baby doll from when I was about 5. I kept that, and the American Girl Doll and clothes that were my daughter's, but had grandsons who were delighted to play with the few stuffed animals from my youth and the multiple ones from my daughter's youth when they came. But not dolls. But, I will let my daughter deal with these someday. And you never know I might still be around for some great-granddaughter who might at least find these amusing.
Speaking of grand-daughters ... the oldest is 12-going-on-17 and she has her eye firmly on one little black dress of my wife's and on Jane's collection of shoes (dance and dress.) En guarde, Jane!
I have many things, like my blue bear who I saved up my pocket money for. A box my daughter bought me for Mother’s Day. My pictures are also important to me I can remember where we bought them and the places they represent. I am by no means a hoarder but I do keep the bits that mean something to me xxxxx
I am too much of a collector. Every room, every shelf, has memories. In my bedroom, I have a small framed print of the Catholic Sacred Heart that has a heart formed of wire attached. It belonged to my favorite uncle and he brought it with him from the Azores long, long before I was born. That is the snowflake at the tip of the iceberg of my collection!
