Wonderful to hear about the brave, strong women in our history!

I find it amusing and delightful how characters in a book series can become friends and hang around often in the forefront of thoughts and always in the background.

I am often surprised when I forget I can't call or email some characters..

This is much less of a problem with the science fiction and fantasy characters I love, at least. :) Or the ones from so far in the past before my memories started forming. They're still my friends.

I know that one of the reasons I re-read my favorite series over and over, as well as immediately read the next book that comes out, is because I do care so much about the characters, who definitely feel real. And of course I feel even more about those characters I create. I first described Annie, and the main boardinghouse inhabitants, and Dandy when I wrote the very first draft of Maids of Misfortune in 1989!

Very interesting to read about health care history with and for women. Let’s hope we move forward with this instead of in the other direction.
