I, too, am very picky about nightgowns. Years ago (more than 10) I found some knee length cotton knit Calida ones from Sierra Trading Post. The long sleeves don't scrunch up, the shoulders fit nicely and they don't shrink in the wash. Alas, one of the three is fraying at the neckline and I have not found anything remotely as good. I hate having to shop for something to replace the perfect "whatever." I guess shopping just is not one of my favorite things.
I don't like nightgowns, they get twined around or ride up to my waist. I have a few different sets of pajamas or in the winter I just wear sweatpants. I do like men's cotton pj pants in the summer, though. And t-shirts! I haven't had trouble with sleeves rolling up either way.
Great update, MaryLou. Although I don't have the same concerns about nightwear - I thought right away about my "inside shoes". Years ago, someone mentioned not going barefoot inside but wearing supportive shoes. Through all of the shoes I have tried, I have one pair by Clarks that is of cloth, with rubber soles that is perfect for my back. Like your nightgown, I am wearing them out to shreds, as I have not been able to find any shoes anything like them. So I GET IT!!!
My rosebush just served up a pink bloom this week, in defiance of everything. I don't know how old it is; likely at least 50 years, possibly 60. I've only lived here 30. It's got giant flowers and is old enough to have a real rose scent.
Yes, I'm so glad this is an old one. And the dwarf Red Delicious tree of similar vintage produces fruit that actually tastes like apples! We gave them away when my husband was still working. Since he retired, they go into the crockpot to become enough applesauce for the whole year.
I'd send you a cutting of the rosebush if I knew how to do that. Maybe just the petals of this one when it fades?
For your nightgown issue, I would suggest that you find a pattern and fabric that you like and have a friend or other seamstress who can make up one or two gowns that will work. Once you have the style and fabric that suits you, you will be able to create new gowns in the future.

I am so sorry for your ongoing pain! Hopefully the antibiotics will help! My left shoulder shares your misery.
I love the bright yellow flowers. A nice pick-me-up on a cold winter day!

I hate anything tight around my waist, which is why every time I have tried pjs, I end up giving up. Maybe it's time to try again!

How lovely. I started collecting rose petals recently, and have discovered that very few of them have any scent!!!
