Daily Diary, Day 694: Whew, thank heavens for audiobooks and the Beatles, not sure I would have made the full hour walk this morning without them. While only 72 degrees by the time I got back, it had risen 5 degrees in that hour, there was sun and no breeze, so hot! Since I have already had several skin cancers and have to get the pre-cancerous stuff burned off every 4-6 months, I always have to be dressed so from top to bottom, so doubly hot.
There, enough complaining.
I am almost done with Overboard, the newest Sara Paretsky novel as an audiobook, and have been enjoying it.
As expected, I only got a short amount of writing time yesterday, but did get 340 words written. I don't have anything scheduled for today, so I should get more written. The first chapter is always one that I seem to write, then delete, then write again because it is so hard to know how much back story and character descriptions you need to give to a reader so they don't feel completely lost. I hope to get past this today, and the writing should then come more smoothly for awhile.
I had to look hard to find blossoms to photograph, even the succulents seem to be withering. But I did find a few. This gladiolus was a particularly striking color, again sort of candy corn shades, like yesterday's daisy.
Can you use a good sunscreen? I have those freeze-burn pre-cancer thingies too. I hate the stinging all day and the little scabs for a few days. Some sunscreens are 75 and would be more than enough for an hour's walk, especially before 10:00 am.
