I'm sharing today's post with my Facebook friends who mostly live in the Midwest (that to me means west of the Mississippi and east of the mountains ). We're used to thunderstorms, flooding, tornadoes and drought. But I thought your first person account of this unusual weather event should be shared with a wider readership. Hope that's okay! Stay safe, and I like WEATHER, too!..and the flower pictures.
Of course I don't mind you sharing. Although we have gotten used to promises of heavy rain here near the coast, that then skips us and happens mostly inland.
An article I read today explained that the heat dome about to decend on the Mid-West is partly to blame for pulling that hurricane back to the northeast and California coast. I hope thinking about your wind and rain will help take my mind off 100+° temperatures.
Interestingly, we are starting to get alerts from cable, UC San Diego up the road warning us to prepare! the weather.com only lists high wind at 16 mph, but 99% chance of rain for Sunday and high of 80, so with the house closed up, might be a bit hot and humid, and then we might be happy, if we haven't lost power, to put our AC on (smile.) I trust with the temps you have, you also have AC.
Most definitely have AC! The Sheriff's office started sending out Heat Advisories yesterday and followed that with an update to extend it this morning. The Missouri State Fair, held here in Sedalia, is going into its final weekend and weather stations and weather bloggers are keeping a close eye on us.
Stay safe!
