Daily Diary, Day 885: So, I started the anti-biotic today. Goes for month and a half. Last night stye was again very painful by dinner time, and I had been treating it with hot compresses very faithfully for a week, so time to bite the bullet.
I can't say I've noticed any difference today, but in the past, once I started on the antibiotics, after about 3 days there was noticeable improvement.
Did get in some writing, cleaning, and 40 minute walk done before 9 AM, when Rio the border collie came over for dog play date. However, after that, an unscheduled phone call before lunch, and a scheduled but longer than expected phone call after lunch, has meant that I've gotten less than 200 words written today.
Oh, well. I do think I got more than the 5000 word weekly goal done, so I will take that as a win.
The really exciting stuff to share is that last night, as we were starting to get to ready for bed, we heard very loud sound of helicopters over head. My husband said there were four large ones, I then saw one go right over our house, so low that the down draft shook the roof. Then we started to hear booms that sounded like explosions. Turns out they were!
Nextdoor.com was filled with people from neighborhood asking what was going on. Then my husband googled and found a article--that said the Army was doing a training operations throughout the city and that last night they were doing one with live ammunition in an abandoned shopping center (scheduled for renovation) that is just a couple of miles away. Went on for about 15 more minutes, and left our dog terrified, cowering and shivering in the corner. My husband sat with her until the booms stoped, and we moved her dog blanket between my side of the bed and the wall, not a place she usually sleeps, and she settled down there all night. I just had to remember not to step on her when I went to the bathroom during the night.
I think the newspaper article said they would be doing these at various places through the 5th of February, and we are hoping they choose some other part of the city to "invade"tonight.
Last night, we watched the newest episode from Poker Face, still enjoying it, and the very first episode of first season of Vera, and we are excited that new episodes of Death in Paradise, just came out. Since I am in a lot of discomfort in the evenings, I have enjoyed watching something light.
Here is another bit of color from my work.
Wow! I have been so grateful for Nextdoor for so many reasons. So sorry you had that scary experience!!
Well your activities beat ours - Hood River had a lockdown due to a guy shooting live ammo at home so the police went into action. They sent out warnings via Facebook and the city notification system that you register for. But they neglected to comment once they had the guy in custody. Things to keep us old folks hyped up!
