My forced "sabbatical" at the end of 2023 was restorative for me, even though it was due to painful and disruptive circumstances. As I face a similar post-injury post-surgical (probably) interlude in 2025, I feel more optimistic about it and less inclined to believe it will ruin my life and prevent me from reaching my goals. Now I just need to figure out how to incorporate these rest moments into my life without getting hurt first.
Oh, yes, I completely understand. My life as an academic meant my vacations came at school breaks, when I would collapse with exhaustion then binge read, then back to work I went feeling renewed. But I stopped teaching completely in 2011, and by that time I was writing as an indie, and the natural vacations were no longer there....so I didn't take them! So I am trying to at least take some mini days off here and there, but it's hard. I never thought of myself as a workaholic until I retired and started this second career!
You did good!! Resilience. I like that. My goal in 2024 was to read the Bible through Chronologically EVERY DAY. I did it! And I blogged about what I read every day, too. That's an accomplishment, especially because I experienced breast cancer, surgery, and radiation last year too. (By the way, the Bible reading really helped then.)
I'm looking forward to "Journaling" through the Bible this year...... and reading all your posts (and chapters).
Happy New Year
