Daily Diary, Day 947: I only have one more chapter to edit, and then tomorrow I am to get feedback from the last beta reader, so I should be able to do one more quick run-through and be done with this stage of editing.
I told my husband that I was actually feeling pretty good about the book at this point. None of the beta readers felt the book needed any major rewriting, I didn't find myself in the middle of some chapter or scene asking myself whether the plot was working, and I could tell by the pace of feedback that everyone was getting through the book quickly, which is always a good sign.
So, this means that this weekend I should be able to send the manuscript off to my copy editor, and she has plenty of time to review, since I've scheduled my proof reader, which is my last stage, for the first of May.
All good. Meanwhile, because I am being very careful, the lower back is getting better, as a friend says, "inch by inch, change is a cinch." I am also telling you all that I am not going to try to do my usual weekend cleaning, which is what set me back last weekend. A little dust won't kill us.
Today I had a lovely, long catchup phone call with my daughter, then my zoom meeting and a phone meeting after that meeting. And since I didn't have my salad for lunch, I think after this post I will not try to edit the last chapter, that can wait for tomorrow. Instead I will take the next 30 minutes before I have to start fixing the salad and catch up on my mail. Here is another photo from last time I walked, a very cute patch pansies.
Congrats! Sounds like the perfect place to be for this weekend. And listening to your body telling you to take it easy is smart. Enjoy your time.
