Weekly Writing Intentions: September 9, 2022
Daily Diary, Day 738:
After surviving a week of a very difficult heat wave here in southern California, this morning we are going to be hit by winds and rain from Hurricane Kay, which is slowly coming up from Baja California, Mexico. I woke up about 4:45 as a door slammed, and instead of being cooler, the air was getting warmer. Hitting 87 degrees by the time I got up at 5. I went out and had my hour walk at 7. It was spitting rain, which felt quite good. The photo below was looking south at around 7:30. Now the skies are completely gray. The streets are wet, but it is barely raining. However, it is now down to 78 degrees, so we have windows open, fans blowing, trying to get the house cooled in case it starts to rain harder and we have to close up.
I only got 703 words written last weekend, and none at all the rest of the week. Instead, I decided to concentrate on getting through a lot of my to-do list, writing my first Scientific Tidbits posts, answering emails, making a whole lot of phone calls, updating my sales data, and making suggestions on how to streamline the Historical Fiction Authors Cooperative site that I help manage. In short, I tried to clear the decks so that when the weather cools, I will be ready to start writing again. I did a pretty good job of getting my exercise every day, despite the heat. So that was a definite win.
So, intentions for next week are simple. Try to once again hit the 5000 words goal, keep up the exercise, and get out the September promotional newsletter.
