Weekly Writing Intentions: November 12, 2022
Daily Diary, Day 802:
If you have been following my daily posts, you will already know what derailed me this week. Stolen catalytic converter Sunday night, a week spent dealing with the fall-out from that, resulting in us buying used car to replace the old one (that was worth less than the cost of repairing the catalytic converter.)
As a result, I had three days without any writing, and one with only 141 words written, and 2 days without a walk. Yet, when I totaled everything up, I still got 4,036 words written and averaged 65 minutes of exercise a day. Not bad, just not what I intended.
So, time to start over to see if I can get my writing speed up again. However, this isn’t going to happen until Tuesday, because for a variety of reasons I scheduled a number of non-writing activities for the next few days. Once I looked at my calendar and saw that I would only have short windows of time over these three days, I decided to do some editing tasks to get ready for Tuesday. For example, today I introduced a character who is going to play a role in the later part of the book. This meant working out his back story, and starting to rewrite chapter 7 where I decided to introduce him for the first time. I will finish that rewrite over tomorrow and Monday, and if I have time, work on some more mini-biographies for a couple of other characters that are going to appear soon.
Starting Tuesday, through the rest of the next two weeks, my intention is to be good about keeping my schedule as open for writing as possible, and go back to doing sprints, no editing, no stopping to fill in blanks.
I will also be getting back to walks every day, and add my PT back in to my exercise routines.
And keep my fingers crossed that nothing unexpected happens to derail me again. (smile)
But now, time to put up another photo of fall leaves and go start watching some TV with my husband.
