Daily Diary, Day 984: Weekly Writing Intentions
Was a very big week, in a number of ways, and I confess that I am feeling a little depleted. Three nights in a row of only getting about 6 hours sleep, isn’t helping. But this weekly review does help me get perspective, because I did meet my goals this past week, and they were awfully ambitious. No wonder I’m not feeling my usual chirpy self!
Week in Review: Ta Da! List
First of all, while I didn’t get the proofed copy of the manuscript until Monday, but I still made good use of my time over the weekend by getting the mini-biographies done, posting two of them this week.
Then, all day Monday and on Tuesday morning, surrounded by the banging and clanging of the people working to install the Heat Pump, I made the corrections, formatted the book using Vellum, and published Tides of Acerba as an ebook on all the retailers.
Wednesday, I published my promotional newsletter telling people about the novel being published, did lots of updating of sites with the new buy links as they became live, and uploaded the print edition of the book (now available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.)
I also had a little wrangle with Amazon over the categories in the new book, not yet resolved. And I went in and discounted the audiobook edition of the Caelestis Series boxed set from $15.99 to $4.99 on Chirp, Spotify, Nook, and Apple (which actually then discounted further to $3.99 off!) A great way for people to get caught up with the earlier books.)
Thursday, I had a busy non-writing day, but I did a major clean up (as I did Wednesday) to get rid of the dust and little bits of dry wall from the heat pump installation. I also finished up scene 1 of the short story so that I could post this on Friday. And Friday was my grand adventure of actually going out to meet friends at a restaurant, first time since Covid. I stayed masked, etc, and had a good time, but boy, did nearly 2 hours of talking in a noisy environment tire me out!
Today, as a result, I am taking it slow, only had a 30 minute walk, although I hope to get a second short one in before dinner. But as I look at all that I accomplished last week, plus 5 walks of 45 minutes each, I feel quite pleased and not surprised at all that I’m feeling a bit tired!
Next Week’s Goals:
Simple. Continue on with the daily exercise, seeing if I could get up to 50 minute walks and doing the PT exercises every other day.
Finish up writing and posting Scene 2 and write Scene 3 of Dandy and the Dognappers (and publish the mini-biographies for the other two children in the stories, Emmaline and Georgie.)
I will also write and send out a newsletter from my old blog, just in case some of these people didn’t make the switch to my substack posts, so they know about both Tides of Acerba and my experiment with publishing the short story in bits.
I will also try to finish the last few things on the to-do list for launching the book. But, most importantly, get caught up with my sleep and build up my energy again.
In fact, feeling better already! The roses are really putting out a show this week. Love this white picket fence as a back drop.
The roses are lovely! The purposeful backdrop of the white fence really shows them off! Nice busy work week.
