Daily Diary, Day 921:
As anyone following me closely this week will know, I did quite well in terms of my editing. This was because I was able to get rid of a whole plot thread, which meant I got rid of 3 whole chapters and chunks of this plot line here and there in the following chapters. As a result, I ended up cutting right around 20,000 words altogether this week. The manuscript that when completed was 143,000 is now only 111, 471 words, which I hope means much better pacing.
Needless to say, my writing intention for this coming week is to continued to edit at this pace. With luck, I will finish the first edit before the end of the week so that I can take a few days to read through the whole thing, do some final polishing, before I send it on to beta readers.
As for other goals, I do hope to do a better job of getting walks in, although last week I did walk 4 days, and totaled nearly 70 minutes of exercise a day. My antibiotics will end next week, so I hope this helps the arthritis to calm down, which should help.
Otherwise, I hope to keep my schedule as clear as possible for this next week, pushing as much as I can on to the week after, when I hope the manuscript will be off being read by others. then I can turn to clearing up a very long to-do list.
So, back to editing, I've gone through 2 chapters already today, and the next one is fairly short, but crucial, so want to get started on it before dinner.
The blossom below was the only spot of color in a yard of green, Brave soul!
Did it hurt to "kill your darlings?" I wish you the best in the further edits. I actually like to edit my work and make it as tight as can be. I know you will do wonderfully.
That flower looks like freesia. 🙂 One of my favorites.
