Weekly Writing Intentions: July 1, 2023

Daily Diary, Day 1035:

For my intentions, I just hope to have a better week! This week, because I was working on my workshop, I only got 451 words on the story written. So, goal for next week definitely to concentrate on finishing the story. Because of some sleep problems, I wasn’t quite as energetic with the exercise, either. I did actually average 85 minutes a day of doing something, and I actually had at least a 30 min walk every day, but no additional PT exercises. So, my intention is to achieve slightly more exercise per day and definitely rack up more hours of sleep in the coming week.

And my hope (not intention because I don't have any control over this) is that the landscaping will finally be completed because so far, we are still running into problems.

We chose for the final layer of covering for the yard median blue stones (that would go well with the house paint), but when the first truck load of stones was dropped in the driveway yesterday afternoon, they were huge tan stones...not at all what we wanted.

It appears that the picture the salesperson showed us from the place where they get the stones was at fault, because what was delivered was what was ordered for us--just didn't look at all like the photo.

Supposedly the existing stones will be removed today, although we've seen no sign of this, and supposedly the salesman will bring us samples of other stones to pick from. There are at least 4 houses in the neighborhood that have stones that are exactly what we were hoping for (and thought we were going to get), so I am assuming this means they are not impossible to find. But, we now have a house where all the front yard has gopher barrier and black weed barriers, but nothing else, and with July 4th, I am not sure we will have any chance of the work being completed until later this coming week. Oh, well, not the end of the world.

As for the rest of today, I am still in sleep deficit, so I may even take a nap in order to be in better shape for the zoom workshop on self-publishing I am doing tonight. It runs from 8 to 11 pm (which is 1-4 tomorrow in Australia), and I haven't been up that late in years! I just hope I will be coherent.

But now, time for lunch and maybe more writing. I only wrote 92 words yesterday, not for want of trying, just hard to get the brain functioning on too little sleep and being away from writing fiction for days! I hope to do better today.

I think I have about run out of pink blooms to photograph on my walks, and since the next color I am going to focus on is yellow, this bloom is a good transition.
