Daily Diary, February, 18, 2023 Day 900:
I am delighted to say, that I just finished the next-to-last chapter of the manuscript. Yes, I know in yesterday’s post I said I hoped to achieve this goal by lunch, but hey, I wrote 1483 words today, and it isn’t even dinner time yet!!!
What this means is that first thing tomorrow I can start on the last chapter. If all goes well (and the creek don’t rise-which is something my father would say), I might be able to write “the end,” tomorrow evening or Monday at the latest.
But first, the review of last week.
I wrote 7597 words in total last week. Since I started writing on July 24, 2022, this means this draft took seven months, which isn’t bad at all, given that as of today, this draft is just 300 words shy of 140,000 words, averaging about 20,000 words a month. Not bad for a woman in her early 70s with arthritis in her wrist and thumbs.
However, this wasn’t a very good week in terms of exercise. I did get in a total of 400 minutes of moderate exercise, but all of it in daily cleaning. Not a single walk. Some of this was caused by my desire to get the daily word count up, some of it was caused by bad weather, but most of it I blame on the side-effects of the medication I am taking for the stye, which caused an arthritis flare-up, which thankfully has somewhat abated.
So now, for next week’s intentions.
Well, obviously, finish this draft. Then, I need to take a few days off to assemble all the records to send on to our tax preparer. Next, I need to prepare and send out my monthly promotional newsletter on Wednesday. In addition, there are a couple other marketing type activities that I’ve been pushing down to the bottom of the to-do list that I should get completed. I hope I can accomplish all this by the end of the week, so that next week I can start to do my first major read-through. But I will talk about that process in next week’s writing intentions.
Finally, I will start walking again, beginning very slowly, because it’s been over a week, and I have found it doesn’t take long for me to get out of shape. That’s my intention, at least, even though it is supposed to rain off and on during the week, more along the usual kind of drizzle, which shouldn’t stop me. Frankly, working on taxes is enough to send me outside for a break, no matter how miserable the weather might be!!
And now, I am going to stop and celebrate what great progress I made this past week, especially today, because I am extremely tuckered out.
Love the photo!
A week well done!
