Weekly Writing Intentions: December 3, 2022
Daily Diary, Day 823:
Weekly Writing Intentions: First a report on how I did last week. Despite how much of the latter part of the week was spent rereading chapters I had written, mostly to find redundancies, I still ended up writing 2645 words. I also averaged 85 mins exercise a day and started up doing Physical Therapy exercises again.
Today, in addition to the major weekly cleaning and a long phone call, I finished going through all the chapters I had written during November. Once again, I did more cutting than adding, so my total for today is -167. But, overall, I am feeling unexpectedly good about these NaNoWriMo chapters, which does make me optimistic about the book in general.
So, my intentions for the coming week are pretty simple. I hope to get back to writing new chapters, with the 5000 word goal for the week. This might be difficult, given today’s count, and the fact that I have an eye appointment Monday morning, where my eyes will be dilated. My experience is that my eyes don’t get back to normal for at least 3-4 hours, so most of the day will be a wash in terms of work. I also have another doctor’s appointment on Friday. However, very few phone calls scheduled (for now.) So my intention is to get as many words written on those freer days.
I also need to do a little more marketing (advertising). Fall is usually very low in terms of sales, and this fall was exceptionally bad (inflation? who knows why) but sales often pick up at the end of December and into January. Therefor I need to figure out the best (and cheapest) way to take advantage of that fact. The sad fact is that if people don't run across my books somewhere (paid promotional sites like BookBub, ads on Amazon, etc.) they won't know to buy them. And while I do write for my own pleasure, I would be dishonest if I didn't admit that I also want people to actually get the books and read them (smile.)
But now it’s time to stop for dinner. The sun just set, giving off this great reddish glow before it went down. Here is a photo of houses across from us, lit by that sunset glow, with the moon riding high in the sky.
