Daily Diary, Day 726:
Very pleased with how this past week went in terms of making my 5000 word goal. This goal really helped keep me motivated after a couple of days where life, as usual, intruded. I had quite low word counts on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, but instead of feeling discouraged, I knew that I was close enough to the 5000 goal that instead of throwing up my hands in defeat yesterday, I put in a good afternoon of work and got a little over 1000 words written by dinner time. This gave me 5839 words for the week, well over my goal. Yippee.
I also was pleased that I was able to do a Historical Tidbits post on Spiritualism to break up the week’s posts.
So, for this coming week, my goal is to again shoot for a total of 5000 words on the novel. Because of the heat and arthritis (which is now back under control), my exercise wasn’t quite where I wanted it last week, so I am going to try and do something similar, for the exercise. Instead of saying I have to do an hour walk every day, plus my PT, the goal will now be getting in a at least 90 mins of exercise every day-and this includes walking, heavy cleaning, and PT exercises. This way I might be motivated to add a 20 minute walk at the end of the day if for some reason I don’t get the full 90 mins in earlier. Unlike the writing, where I can hope to make up with writing more words on some days, for exercise it is more important for me to do something every day, just not worry if the mix isn’t the same.
Otherwise, I am still pecking away at the research for the substack piece, and I am contemplating maybe starting a Science Tidbits post to alternate with the Historical Tidbit posts. That’s because with working on the science fiction novel, I am more aware how I think differently about the articles I read in that realm. For example, I just read a fascinating article about a sperm whale pod that seems to have adopted a dolphin with a physical disability. Needless to day, my busy mind is trying to figure out how to include this in the novel I am writing, since New Eden mammals turn out to be sentient and can communicate with humans.
So, that all should keep me busy and out of trouble. Anyone know what this plant is? Loved its cascade of color.
Mary Louisa your dedication is phenomenal. I am inspired. Wish I could match your creative performance.
Yay! Achievable goals! Brava!
