Daily Diary, Day 753:
Last week I, at least, achieved my goal of working out the basic plot points of the second half of the novel, and I even got the first two chapters outlined. However, this meant only 1737 new words written. Friday, I hit another wall. The day was much warmer and my problem with my new glasses prescription is causing my eyes to be very tired by early afternoon. Not exactly a headache, but sort of queasy, and just tired. I am supposed to try to hang in another week, but I am pretty sure I am going to go in on Monday and start the process of getting the RX changed. At least the distance part seems fine, a definite improvement over my old glasses. I notice it when walking and watching TV, particularly when there are sub-titles.
Speaking of TV, we re-watched Night on Earth, a 1991 Jim Jarmusch movie (who we really love), which is a series of shorts, each featuring a cabbie in a different part of the world. The first story was really fun with a young Winona Rider and a mature but elegant Gena Rowlands. We generally love anything Jarmusch does.
We were saddened when the tv show Michael: Tuesdays and Thursdays ended – hope there is a new season coming. This is a very sweet series about a psychiatrist and his patient. It was a lovely way to end each evening. Especially when we had finished watching things like Revolver (action film). But we found a replacement on Thursday, a new comedy series called Reboot. First episode, so-so, but we found the second one laugh out loud.
So, where does this put me going into next week, which is supposed to get even hotter and not cool down until next Friday? Well, I am going to try to write, but maybe concentrate on writing in the morning when my eyes haven’t gotten too tired and it hasn’t gotten too hot. This means getting my walk in even earlier as well, and maybe doing my cleaning chores only after I’ve gotten some writing done. Today it isn’t yet 9, and I’ve walked and already have 151 words written. So off to a good start. In short, my intention for this coming week it back to having written 5000 new words by the end of the week.
I also need to figure out how to advertise that my audiobooks are now on sale through Spotify. Evidently, all you have to do is go to the Spotify ap, then type an author’s name (in this case you might try M. Louisa Locke and Louisa Locke) and the books will appear. They seem to be discounting the books, for example, the boxed set of my first 4 historical mysteries, which I had already discounted to $16.99, is discounted further to $11.99. Anyway, getting these links up on my website, doing the graphics for an announcement on facebook, etc will be part of my goals for this week.
I have continued to do well with exercise, so, I just need continue on, despite the heat. I am going to continue the recent practice of picking a color to look for on the walks. I think I will do orange next. But below are some more of the reds I found yesterday. The first picture above is of ripe pomegranates! The next photo is of very tiny tomatoes in someone's garden.
I couldn’t help but add the bright red lid of some sort in what i assume is some entrance to underground utilities.
Your daily progress reports inspire me, though the only writing I do is a daily email to my Mom, who doesn’t hear well, but checks her email several times each day.
Seeing how you overcome obstacles and work through less than favorable circumstances has encouraged me to make lists, prioritize, check off the finished tasks, and change the date on unfinished items as needed. I tend to start too many sewing projects, and finish too few. 😝
Keep up the great work!
