Daily Diary: Day 1150: On the writing front, it was definitely one step forward, two steps back. When I started up writing yesterday, I found that in my attempt to just forge ahead, I had some obvious redundancies in the last two scenes, so after an hour of writing I had cut well over 500 words. I then was able to move onto a new chapter and wrote about 500 new words, but the total word count for the day was -57 (smile.)
This morning I have succeeded in getting 137 words written, and I have another hour to work before lunch. I also did some promotional planning for November.
I finally got a response from dr about the heart test I had, and while there is still some puzzlement over readings (and at least 1-2 more tests scheduled), the good news was that the recommendation was to start working on extending my walking times, while continuing to test my pulse and oxygen levels.
This is perfect timing because it is going to be harder to get in my full sixty minutes with the second walk as it gets darker, so if I can slowly work back up to at least 40-45 minutes in the morning, this would be great.
And I was delighted last night to see that one of the families in the neighborhood with a boat (in morning I often see them hosing down this boat, so I assume they were out very early fishing) put up the decorations on the boat I remembered from last year. A definite pirate theme!

So much to see on a walk! and walking surely has to be the best exercise and quite perfect for us writers... Enjoy.
I love your honesty on counting words!! It makes you feel ever so human to me! By the way, Hannah Dennison, one of our writers on THE WRITERS IN RESIDENCE (that you guest posted on a while back) writes this week on word counts. She has a friend whose goal is 500,000 annually!! She also lists daily counts for some well-know authors. It's a fun read if you have a couple minutes. https://thewritersinresidence.com/2023/10/25/making-your-words-count/
