Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully. Occasionally, I will also publish some of my shorter fiction in this newsletter to read for free.
Daily Diary, Day 1708:
Yesterday, and it looks like today, very gray, although it is supposed to get warmer today. Yesterday I did my two walks, wrote around 600 words, had my phone call, and did notice that the discomfort in my arm, despite advil, came when I sat and typed too long. Another good reason to intersperse my writing and reading, and not trying to write much beyond the 500 goal.
So a short post today. I have done yoga (although it was shortened because of internet connection problems on the studio end. I was the only zoom person who hung around, but that was probably because my daughter was at the studio for the class and texted me what was going on. I figure 20 minutes better than nothing, especially since I was up! I’ve done my cleaning, and I am about to take my first walk. I have a tentative phone call scheduled. So a pretty normal day.
Here are a some blooms from the one plant in the neighborhood that has that red and white hybrid I like so much. Once again, I have never seen so many blossoms at once.

Everything I publish in this newsletter is available to anyone who subscribes, but I am always pleased when someone shows their appreciation for what I am writing by clicking the button below to upgrade to paid, thereby providing me more resources so I can spend more time writing my fiction and less time marketing. Really love the pictures.
Wish I could develop routines such as you do. At 86 I suppose it’s a little late!
I think you give off good vibes that the roses love!
