Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully. Occasionally, I will also publish some of my shorter fiction in this newsletter to read for free.
Daily Diary, Day 1645:
Still getting new followers for both newsletters, with the 739 now subscribed for this daily newsletter, and 2965 subscribed to the monthy newsletter! I am assuming that at least some of the newest subscribers are are from facebook, but welcome to everyone. I hope you all enjoyed the post yesterday about dogs in the Victorian period. I suspect those of you who like quirky historical facts will like Thursday’s post even better. Then, next Tuesday I will start posting scenes from the short story Dandy’s Discovery.
Today, however is what I call a short stuff post, pretty much a brief check-in about what my daily diversions have been. Walking! For a little over a week I’ve walked outside at least once, usually between 20 to 40 minutes. Yesterday I did 50 minutes, in 2 stints, I don’t know how long it’s been since I did this much walking without any observable effects on my various pain points. I hope to maybe even get in a total of 60 minutes today. I also continued to work on planning promotional activities for the spring, as well us starting to get caught up on the fact that I was 6 months behind in my analysis of sales (which I use to plan future promotions—what worked—what didn’t.) That is what I am setting as my priority today. I also some good long phone calls with friends, as well as the usual cleaning, laundry, groceries, etc.
I’m leaving you with a couple of shy blooms that have started to pop out with spring.
