Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully. Occasionally, I will also publish some of my shorter fiction in this newsletter to read for free.
Daily Diary, Day 1659:
Yesterday was very sunny, but also very windy. We have one of those umbrellas in the backyard with a heavy base (which we seldom use and has gotten more and more difficult to open) and it keeps blowing over. And the two sets of windchimes hung back there were ringing merrily all day long and somehow, despite different tones, seemed to complement each other.
I had a thirty-minute walk, the usual daily cleaning, a morning phone call, and then putting away the groceries took up much of the morning. I rode my recumbent bike for 15 minutes, and before dinner, I walked another 15 minutes, and had trouble keeping on my hat on during that last walk, but it was very invigorating. I did finish reading the dissertation, so I hope that today I will be able to make some more progress on fleshing out the scenes in the story.
The goal today is to do 2 walks again, and edge up to 50 minutes total (yesterday I achieved 45 minutes.) Keeping fingers crossed that I am heading into a nice long patch of slowly getting my stamina back up.
The wisteria that I pass by at the start of my walks is really going to town and smells great!
Everything I publish in this newsletter is available to anyone who subscribes, but I am always pleased when someone shows their appreciation for what I am writing by clicking the button below to upgrade to paid, thereby providing me more resources so I can spend more time writing my fiction and less time marketing. In addition, please do click on the heart so I know you’ve been to visit and/or share with your friends, and I always welcome comments! Thanks!
For a second there I thought I could smell the wisteria!
