Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully. Occasionally, I will also publish some of my shorter fiction in this newsletter to read for free.
Daily Diary, Day 1736:
Edgar Report: Big potential drama in the daddy long legs saga. While everything was quiet yesterday, Edgar hanging from his web in his corner all day, with no sign of the small one that I put in the cabinet under the sink, this morning there appeared a new daddy long legs hanging in Edgar’s corner. Not sure the same one I put under the sink, since it seems bigger, and it is definitely a lighter color than Edgar.. Within an hour, the new one disappeared, then when I looked back, Edgar had moved up higher on the wall, and the new one was spinning a web about where Edgar had been. Are they friends? Possible mates? Frenemies? Or is one of them going to be a meal for the other? Stay tuned!
Yesterday, I ended up having another unscheduled phone call, on top of scheduled one, and that again pretty much filled the morning (plus first walk.) I spent the afternoon alternating between icing elbow, doing a few chores, and reading. Again, no writing, mostly because I really wanted to give elbow a break. But this morning I have a 2 hour co-writing zoom session at nine,, so I should get some written today. Another gray day. Because of the nine o’clock writing session, after I post this, I will just do a 20 minute walk, followed up by two more 20 minute walks, one before lunch, the other before dinner.
Ok, this photos is of 3 blossoms on the same rose bush! Definitely some kind of hybrid!

The hybrid roses are amazing!
Love the Edgar saga! New series coming up?
