Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully. Occasionally, I will also publish some of my shorter fiction in this newsletter to read for free.
Daily Diary, Day 1750:
Once again, I am trying to get this post out early, this time because I have an early morning appointment to get my eyes checked.
Yesterday’s dental appointment went very well. I really, really, really do appreciate the new technology. I had 3 old crowns removed (back upper right 3), the cavities that had been developing under the crowns removed, and 3 new crowns created and put back into my mouth…all done slightly under 2 hours.
Of course, it took another seven hours for the numbness to go away completely, and that side of my mouth and jaw were uncomfortable the rest of the day. But discomfort is something I can handle, and this morning it really is only the gum around the teeth that is a little sore.
I did have a phone call yesterday morning (unscheduled) and one in the late afternoon, but overall I took things easy. I did some cleaning, some laundry, some Pilates, but mostly I read.
Today I have a phone call in the afternoon, but as to doing anything else when I get back from the eye appointment, a lot depends on if my eyes needed to be dilated. In the past when dilated, it takes a long time for me to be able to do more than sit in a dark room, maybe watch some tv.
OK, need to get this out because I want to take a short walk before we head out to the clinic. Here is another rose for your viewing pleasure!
Everything I publish in this newsletter is available to anyone who subscribes, but I am always pleased when someone shows their appreciation for what I am writing by clicking the button below to upgrade to paid, thereby providing me more resources so I can spend more time writing my fiction and less time marketing. In addition, please do click on the heart so I know you’ve been to visit and/or share with your friends, and I always welcome comments! Thanks!
I think I appreciate the advances in dental care more than than any of the other medical services! I still remember the horrible sounds and pain of drilling I the 1940’s!
