Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully, including my struggles to maintain a balanced life, what I listen to, read, and watch for entertainment, and occasional bits of information I’ve gleaned from doing the research for my novels.
In addition, now and again I will provide some of my fiction to read, for free, on this newsletter. Everything is available to anyone who subscribes, but I am always pleased when someone shows their appreciation for the newsletter by upgrading to paid.
Daily Diary, , Day 1380:
Yesterday afternoon it wasn’t just cloudy, it was misty enough for water to start showing up on the chairs we have in the back patio. But my friend still came over and we sat bundled up and talked for over two hours, which was lots of fun. This morning it is again cloudy, but the weather predictions have switched one more time and now it not only is it supposed to get sunny today but the next couple days are again predicted as sunny. I hope so but I’m not counting on it.
We also got a text this morning that the people who are to come and create a template for the glass shower door are coming sometime midday. I hope they’ll be able to tell us when the door itself will be installed, which will give us a better idea on we can start cleaning the master bedroom and start to move back in. I would like to have enough time to do this slowly in order to avoid injuring anything again, particularly since the new stye is not yet showing any improvement.
I didn’t get much reading done yesterday, and I have another phone call scheduled this afternoon so again I'm going to make this short so I can go back to being on vacation!
But first here are two photos of the same solitary rose, one taken yesterday, the other today, so you can see what 24 hours did to get it to open more.

Funny comment that I keep getting from my Bookclub members that are reading your book. I keep getting asked if the book is dedicated to my family…..Hawkins! I point out that it’s a pretty common name!🤗🤗
Sorry about the stye!
