Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully, including my struggles to maintain a balanced life, what I listen to, read, and watch for entertainment, and occasional bits of information I’ve gleaned from doing the research for my novels.
Daily Diary, Day 1233:
I was a bit sore yesterday morning, so I was careful during the day, with my regular 30 minute walk in the morning, but a shorter time on Pilates, and only 20 minutes, albeit very energetic, 20 minutes for my second walk. I also had a scheduled phone call in the afternoon, and we got detailed architectural drawings for the bathroom remodel that we had to go through as well. This took up all of the afternoon. We found two minor errors, that I emailed about today, but it is exciting to see that the next stage is to go around with the project manager and come up with final height of grab bars and such, and then they can start ordering material.
Despite the afternoon getting away from me, I did get just short of 500 words written yesterday, and here it is the next morning, and I’ve done yoga, cleaning, 30 minute walk, paid bills, did a load of laundry, showered, and fixed my second thermos of my favorite sticky rice pu-erh tea, and I am ready to write some more.
Yesterday started sunny, then ended cloudy, and today started cloudy, but has now turned sunny, so again, yea weather! I did find a couple of roses to photograph on each walk.
