Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully, including my struggles to maintain a balanced life, what I listen to, read, and watch for entertainment, and occasional bits of information I’ve gleaned from doing the research for my novels.
Daily Diary, Day 1310:
First of all, thanks to the people who confirmed that the flowers yesterday were, indeed, geraniums, a special kind called Martha Washington geraniums, that come in a range of beautiful colors. I think this might be the first time one of my guesses proved correct!
Second, I did, in fact spend a good deal of my day yesterday editing, although I would swear that I primarily moved paragraphs around. I hope to make more forward progress today. I was, however, pleased that between nearly two hours of cleaning (in three separate spurts) and a good deal of work on the computer, my hand again wasn’t aching in the evening. Taking breaks when I start to feel discomfort seems to be the strategy that works best.
I didn’t find any time to sit in the sun yesterday, but I hope to do so today, since the temperature is supposed to drop at least 10 degrees tomorrow and the next day as a new possible band of rain rolls in (although at this point the percentage has dropped to 45% chance of rain.)
I’ve done all my chores, (yoga was canceled) taken my first walk, and except for a possible phone call, I should have the rest of the day to edit.
Saw these roses on last evening’s walk, aren’y they gorgeous!
