Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully, including my struggles to maintain a balanced life, what I listen to, read, and watch for entertainment, and occasional bits of information I’ve gleaned from doing the research for my novels.
Daily Diary, Day 1183:
Finally, yesterday I had a day where I actually got almost 1000 words written. Also I got in my full 110 minutes of exercise, which is what happens when I do 60 minutes of walking, 30 minutes of cleaning, and 20 minutes of chair Pilates. And I got all that writing accomplished despite a Rio doggy playdate visit and an hour and a half phone call in the afternoon.
So, since today is pretty much a duplicate of yesterday, minus Rio visit, including afternoon phone call, I am hoping I might even break the 1000 mark. And since I’m already at 262 words with a couple more hours before lunch, I am feeling optimistic.
I had a little time after dinner yesterday to work on Wednesday’s Favorite Thing post for my newsletter tomorrow. I wanted to get ahead because Wednesday morning is going to be spent going to the warehouse to pick everything out for the remodel of our bathrooms. So, expect Thursday’s post to talk a little about how that went.
The neighborhood is really devoid of flowers right now, although I have to remind myself how spoiled I am living in a place where there are some flowers blooming pretty much all year round, and the plants really do need a little time to do the fall-thing of laying fallow. But the sky and sunsets really have been pretty amazing each night. The photo below was from last night’s walk.
