Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully, including my struggles to maintain a balanced life, what I listen to, read, and watch for entertainment, and occasional bits of information I’ve gleaned from doing the research for my novels.
Daily Diary, Day 1274.
I’m very pleased that I got slightly over 500 words written yesterday. Most of it was done through dictation. I’m not sure it was faster than typing, since I discovered things like the difficulty in getting the program to understand that I wasn’t saying Jackson instead of Jaxon, which is a real problem given that this is one of the main characters. It also was completely unable to approximate what the Ddaeran (native language based on Welsh) words were. This required more editing than I would normally do to correct typos. But it did mean a little less stress on my right index finger. I will give it another try today since the index finger continues to be less swollen, but still hurts if I use it too much.
I also got in my full day of exercise, and my ophthalmologist renewed the antibiotic cream which should be here to be here tomorrow. The stye is getting increasingly painful so I think I will probably start using it when it comes.
Yesterday was very cloudy and actually sprinkled a few times, and today appears it will be very similar today, very cloudy and it’s not supposed to go above mid 60s.
Oh, several people asked for a link to the place where we got our wind chimes (called Woodstock Chimes), so here is their link.
The photo is from yesterday afternoon’s walk with these two very different, but equally bright yellow blooms that I found quite cheerful.

Thank you for the link to the wind chimes. I have been looking for a while, but I don't think I've seen this site. Excited to do some browsing!
Thank you for sharing the picture of the daffodils. They are beautiful. We are having fifty degree weather today. It's only a tease but your pictures give me hope!
