A reminder of audiobook sale, and rather gothic yard, with moss and dragon!
Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully, including my struggles to maintain a balanced life, what I listen to, read, and watch for entertainment, and occasional bits of information I’ve gleaned from doing the research for my novels.
In addition, now and again I will provide some of my fiction to read, for free, on this newsletter. Everything is available to anyone who subscribes, but I am always pleased when someone shows their appreciation for the newsletter by upgrading to paid.
Daily Diary, Day 1415:
Today should be a lot quieter because all we have is the tile guy working upstairs, I did even more thorough cleaning today since it doesn’t look like anybody will be doing anything in the downstairs bathroom until next week. As a result, this was a good time to wash off the dog blankets that we keep on the couches and do more thorough dusting than I did yesterday. I've also done my first walk. Because the sun came out early today, this wasn’t the most pleasant of walks, but I can hear the wind chimes, which means that at least my husband who is off on this second dog walk of the day will have a little breeze, which I didn't have.
Since it’s Thursday, this means that I have my usual noon, zoom meeting and then most likely a phone meeting afterwards. I didn’t get to the bills yesterday because it was so noisy so I did them this morning. However, last night I did put up an ad reminding people that the audiobook edition of the compilation of stories featuring Dandy, the Boston Terrier from the Victorian San Francisco Mystery series, Dandy’s Daring Deeds, is still sale for 99 cents on Chirp today and tomorrow. For those of you who prefer e-books, this is also a reminder of this compilation is only $3.99 on most retailers.
Ok, time to go soak my eye (the stye is still very slowly disappearing, but I have learned that I need to stay vigilant), and put on my second dose of voltarin on my trigger fingers (again, left is doing much better than right, so slow but sure.
Then, maybe I will have about an hour to read (now on book 19 of 22).
There is this house that seems determined to pretend it is not in San Diego (basically a desert climate), but in a rather gothic New Orleans setting, by growing moss from a tree. last week as I went by I could see they had a sprinkler system that was actually misting the tree and surrounding plants (and ornaments.) So here are three photos of that yard. It is fun to look at, but such an anomaly.
