Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully, including my struggles to maintain a balanced life, what I listen to, read, and watch for entertainment, and occasional bits of information I’ve gleaned from doing the research for my novels.
Daily Diary, Day 1248:
As expected, yesterday did not turn out to be a good writing day. In fact, I didn’t get any words written. Not surprising, given that I had three phone calls, which took up three and a half hours, and then when you add over two hours of some sort of exercise, not a lot of writing time left. But of course I quite enjoyed the phone calls, and felt good after the exercise, so I am not complaining. I also did use the bits of other time wisely, making progress in filling in the outline for the next couple of chapters of the novel.
Today probably won’t be much more productive on the writing front because in an hour we meet with the project manager to finalize plans for the bathroom remodels (we have caught few minor things that need to be changed.) Then I have the regular noon zoom meeting, then immediately off to clinic for recheck of my prescription, since the new glasses I got aren’t working.
It is now raining steadily, but not too hard yet, although the weather reports say the north of us is getting slammed, so our time may be coming soon.
The photos are from walk in yesterday evening, with very interesting clouds, a delicate pink bloom that may not make it if the rain and wind get too much today, and the spice finches apparently worried that with the storm coming, the need to fill up on seed!

Although you may not have got much writing done it sounds a lovely and productive day xx
The clouds are amazing! I don't remember ever seeing anything like them.
