There was no surgery because it turns out I don't have trigger finger on either hand but something called a bilateral middle finger sagittal band injury. In short, different tendon ruptured, and the non-surgical solution is a special splint that I am supposed to wear 24/7 for 6 to 8 weeks. However, it was my impression that the fact that the injuries happened seven months ago probably means it will take longer to heal--or it won't heal at all.
So in the good news category, I don't have to spend weeks healing from an incision, and the bad news is that it might not become completely better. However, I will be content if the result is status quo because I have already discovered if I wear arthritis gloves and a an all-purpose splint on that finger, I can still type without much discomfort...and frankly I am pretty used to doing things with mild discomfort here and there.
Now, if I can just get the right fool pain to calm down (smile.)
But thanks for all your good wishes, and I am going to leave you with a photo of Leeza, a girl who knows how to relax.
Might I ask where you found arthritis gloves. I thought I might try some to help with my carple tunnel and the joint swelling in my wrists. So happy you do not have surgery.
Happy Thanksgiving! Barb
P.S. Leeza looks like the perfect dog.
