Daily Diary, Day 757: So, it got up to 88 yesterday, and today it is already 87, but hopefully this is the peak, and tomorrow is when they are beginning to forecast cooler weather. I had a bad night's sleep last night, lost about 3 hours in the middle, but I can't blame the heat.
Mostly it was finding myself unable to shake a distressing twist at the end the episode of Shetland we watched last night, coupled with what I feared was the beginning of a sty. So, I kept getting up and soaking the eye and reading some LeGuin short stories. The soaking worked (no sty this morning) but the reading didn't do its job in short-circuiting the brain.
And I no longer seem to have the capability of sleeping in (or even taking a nap) any longer when I lose sleep. But I should sleep well tonight. And, this is when I am so grateful that I didn't have to go off to work today and appear to have it together in front of hundreds of students.
I am also proud that I dragged myself through my hour walk this morning and I even have gotten over 300 words written. In par,t this is because my writing was going well yesterday, so it was easy to pick up where I left off. I only got 855 words written yesterday, but I got 3 more chapters outlined and ready to work on when I get this chapter done.
But now time to put up this post, do a little marketing stuff, lunch, a phone call, and then...maybe more words!
Here are the last of my orange - colored blossoms, although it is hard to distinguish between orange, red, and pink sometimes. But this morning on my walk, I did find some very pink blossoms to photograph, which I will start showing tomorrow.
Hello dear Sister,
I know I am reading this late. I am so sorry to hear that you are not able to sleep in or take naps. That is a real bummer. I am glad that mostly you do sleep well. Yes, I have often, often wondered how teachers do it - getting up each day and "having it all together"!
