Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully. Occasionally, I will also publish some of my shorter fiction in this newsletter to read for free.
Daily Diary, Day 1704:
Yesterday felt like one of those days that went very smoothly, with good balance, where I was enjoying everything I was doing. I did a good job of concentrating in yoga (not always true), I really got into the different podcasts I was listening to during both walks, and I could tell by how far I got with each walk that I was walking energetically. We got everything we ordered with the groceries, and it only took 30 minutes to put away (this includes taking tops off of some vegetables, washing them, putting them out to dry, etc.) I started back reading the Chanur series book and started to enjoy more, and I actually got 250 words written on the novella in the morning. My afternoon phone call was rescheduled for Sat afternoon (which was possible because first thing in the morning a scheduled phone date with an old friend for Saturday was shifted to Sunday.)
This freed up yesterday afternoon, when I continued to alternate between reading Chanur Legacy (and some newsletters) and writing, so that by dinner time I had written just over 1000 words and the total is now nearly 18,000 words.
Today, between a morning zoom meeting and a phone meeting in the afternoon, I doubt I will be as productive. However, I do hope to at least reach the 500 word goal. But first, off on my walk.
Today I am going to concentrate on pink roses to share with you!
