Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully. Occasionally, I will also publish some of my shorter fiction in this newsletter to read for free.
Daily Diary,Day 1755:
Edgar’s friends: At some point Miss Teeny moved from the corner where Edgar and a number of his friends have taken up position over the past couple of months to spin a web attached to the bar that holds the 3 lights (large white globes) that are over the sink. I was worried that it might get too hot if I leave the lights on too long, and the fact that by this morning she was back in the corner by the ceiling, slightly away from the lights might have proved me right.
Because I did over two hours of cleaning yesterday, and I am trying not to make the mistake of kicking up my arthritis, I only did one thirty-minute walk, before lunch. All in all it was a relaxed day. In addition to yesterday’s newsletter, I also did some journal writing, and had a scheduled phone call in the late afternoon. I also dipped into the various articles and posts about Iran, etc. but tried to intersperse this with reading Peripheral and listening to my current audiobook.
I had written about 400 words on the novel on Saturday, but that was before the news about the bombing of Iran, so I was in no mood for writing on Sunday. I will see if I am in the mood to write this morning, after I have finished my regular morning routine, which on Monday’s includes Rio the border collie coming over to play.
For today’s round of blossoms, I thought I would shift to featuring some pink blooms instead of the purple. There were so many, I will reserve photos of roses for another day. Hope some you find some pleasure in these and the nature around you, wherever you are.

Everything I publish in this newsletter is available to anyone who subscribes, but I am always pleased when someone shows their appreciation for what I am writing by clicking the button below to upgrade to paid, thereby providing me more resources so I can spend more time writing my fiction and less time marketing. In addition, please do click on the heart so I know you’ve been to visit and/or share with your friends, and I always welcome comments! Thanks!
