Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully, including my struggles to maintain a balanced life, what I listen to, read, and watch for entertainment, and occasional bits of information I’ve gleaned from doing the research for my novels.
Daily Diary, , Day 1264:
Yesterday was a good balanced day again. I got two hours of exercise in, even with no Pilates, and I had a scheduled phone call, and an unscheduled one that I took while walking (multi-tasking!) I also did a little marketing work by creating an ad for the audio edition of Victorian San Francisco Boxed set (Books 5-7) that is only $1.99 on Chirp (a steal given that this boxed set provides over 30 hours of listening, and has a 4.6 star rating on Chirp.) Creating the ad didn’t take that long, and I hope it will extend the sales of the book over this long weekend.
Also, I was very pleased with my work on the novel yesterday, as I got over 1000 words written and almost finished a chapter. Today, I will spend more time cleaning the upstairs (changing bedding etc.) but I hope to at least finish the chapter I am working on, and do a little outlining of the next chapter.
However, once I’ve finished the chapter I am working on, I am going to pause and start to work on getting all the information together for taxes. I hope I will be done by Monday, so can get back to work on the book.
Meanwhile, don’t expect very long entries in these newsletters until this draft is done. One of the reasons I am stopping to do the taxes is so once I get back to writing I can keep the momentum going to the end.
The clouds are definitely rolling in (photo is from last afternoon’s walk) and this morning it is again just solid gray, and the forecast for rain keeps appearing then disappearing, but right now it is for showers on Tuesday and Wednesday.
