November 4, 2022: NaNoWriMo Day 4
Daily Diary, Day 794:
Only 257 words today. I knew this kind of day would come, just didn’t expect it today. I knew I wouldn’t have as much time as I’ve had. Given that I had the weekly deep clean of upstairs (and the additional wash associated with shifting to the flannel sheets since it is getting colder and colder at night.) I also had my hour walk (again lovely—no wind this time but still chilly) the hour when the border collie Rio comes over, then an hour phone call scheduled.
What I didn’t expect is to learn that my new glasses came in (I just ordered them Monday!) Actually, they are new lenses for a pair of old frames that I got in 2014. I had replaced them in 2017, with frames I never quite liked as much, and then got new frames/lenses nearly a month and a half ago. However, I never adjusted to these new glasses because the frames were too big. This resulted, with my very strong prescription, in the reading section of the progressives being too far down. The optician looked through every frame they had in stock-including youth frames—and they were all too big. So, I having brought these old frames with me as an example of what I thought I needed, I decided to go with simply replacing the lenses.
So, here I am typing on my computer, seeing better. However, that wiped out my writing time this morning, and after doing more laundry, calling to make another doctor’s appointment, having another long, lovely phone call with a friend, I only had time right after dinner to write. But at least I got some words written. Tomorrow I should have a lot more time.
Today on my walk, I decided to concentrate on signs of fall. What I found was only a couple of trees with a little sign of fall colors, and a bunch of spring flowers! That’s San Diego for you. Most trees stay green, or go from green to brown, no in between. But that hot spell a couple of weeks ago, plus the rain this week, fooled some bulbs into thinking it was spring!
