Daily Diary, Day 819: So much better day today in terms of progress on the novel. Despite the eye test appointment, I still got 1296 words written.
This was my first lengthy solo trip in the Leaf, so I got to practice putting in the address to my destination, figured out how to turn on the radio and use the windshield wipers, because it actually sprinkled for one block of the drive! And I experimented with turning something called ECO on and off while driving, which makes the engine more efficient. I am enjoying driving an EV, although NextDoor, which has been reporting all the local thefts, said that early Monday morning (the same day and time of our catalytic converter theft), two houses a few blocks away had their Tesla EV charging cords stolen (they were charging over night. Thankfully we don’t have to charge over night, not having day jobs that require this), so we should be ok.
In any event, I got to my appointment in the recommended 15 mins ahead of time, was taken in immediately, and the tests only lasted a little over 15 minutes, so I was home in time to get my first 300 words written before lunch.
I didn't walk walk this morning because of the appointment, but did do daily dust and sweep, and before lunch I did 10 min of PT, so I still got in 40 mins of some exercise.
Since no walk, here is a photo I took the day before, of some sort of vine that winds around some cacti in a yard I pass every day. I'd never noticed the vine before, until a few days ago when the leaves had turned color, making it very visible! I am definitely taking my glimpses of fall foliage where I can get it!
