Daily Diary, Day 805: Had an excellent night's sleep, and a very pleasant walk. Was only 50 degrees when I set off, but very sunny and clear, and 56 by time I got home. I finished listening to the Ann Cleeves, Vera Stanhome mystery, really enjoyed, so I will be on the look out for other discounts of books i this series. Then I started the newest Laurie King mystery, which is one of her contemporary ones that shifts back and forth between the present and something that happened in the 1970s. Liking it so far.
Writing, as often happens when I haven't been writing steadily, started slowly, so now that it is dinner time, I only have 568 new words. I am hoping after dinner to get a little more done and that the writing speeds up more tomorrow.
My poor daughter spent about five years at urgent care this morning. Didn't test positive for flu or covid, so the diagnosis is some unknown virus, with the potential for it turning into an ear infection. They did give her some cough medicine and a nose spray, but of course she felt even more ill by the time she got home. I do feel for the medical personnel, not a lot you can do for a virus, and it sounds like they are being over-run everywhere, but given that it also could be Covid I guess they can't just tell people not to bother to come in.
Needless to say, I am glad I don't have to go anywhere, any time soon.
Here is another shot of fall leaves, this one from across the canyon, which gives you a good idea about how most of the trees are evergreen, so the ones that change color really stand out. Also gives you an idea how brown and dry everything else is, despite rain last week. This is what three years of drought looks like.
