Daily Diary, Day 658:
I realized that most the poems my father wrote about his own father were quite sad. So, to celebrate Father's Day and the coming of summer, I thought I would publish this fun little poem he wrote about life in Florida, where he retired and started writing poetry full-time.
celebrate springtime's sunfestival fun
codgers and singles and fathers and daughters
scarlet and black and silver and cool
are playing again along palm beaches waters
like tropical fish in a tidal pool
singing and surfing and swinging and swirling
darting and leaping in gurgles and elegance
flowing and glowing and knitting and purling
bingeing and dancing in superabundance
we bubble and swim in a liquid encounter
schooling together in florida's sun
sunnies and angels and elegant darters
to celebrate springtime's sunfestival fun
