Daily Diary: Day 1120: Sitting here waiting for the groceries to be delivered so that I can put them away. I don't think I quite understood how little I liked going grocery shopping until Covid hit and we started having it delivered. Worth the extra money, which might actually be canceled out because no impulse buying. And since we sit and make the list together, there isn't the trying to figure out if something the other of us put on the list can be substituted or not which happens when you go in person.
Meanwhile, I did some more cutting on the novel yesterday, but today I start a new chapter, so there is no reason why I shouldn't get some new words down. Also worked some yesterday on a background post on the Paradisi Chronicles and realized that I often can't quite remember where an idea came from, since it was such a collaborative process (and happened 9 years ago).
So I was writing up the 10 Founding Families who colonized the new world at the center of the series, and while I know I was the one who came up with the names and specialties for the families, I have no memory of how we settled on 10. I do remember trying to figure out how many people would have to come in each of the 10 ships to reasonably assume a viable population within a generation or two. We settled on 10,000 per ship, but can't remember how we got to that number!
Anyway, definitely an experience!
Did my evening walk yesterday, and my morning walk this morning. For both felt a little draggy, could be I over did it with the cleaning. We've had the doggy play date with Rio, and now after posting this I should be able to start writing, unless the groceries come.
Also hope their delivery doesn't interfere with my chair exercises, which I try to do before lunch (because this seems to help keep my blood sugar in line.) I got a new online video to supplement my pilates routine that is supposed to build up my ability to balance, which of course every article keeps clamoring on about being crucial to prevent falls. So I will dutifully do these new exercises.
For some reason Leeza really objects to me doing exercises, especially incensed when I throw my arms up in the air. She comes rushing at me, puts her front paws on my lap to stop me. So, now she has to be on a lead while I exercise.
I really wonder what is going through her head. I do believe that she was a farm dog before being shipped out of Texas after wild fires, and she thinks I am a sheep to be kept in line. My job is to sit quietly and not do any sudden moves (or words.) Since sitting and typing, or sitting watching TV fits into those parameters, most of the day is ok, but getting up suddenly, or actually getting excited when I talk to my husband (and I probably wave my hands around when I do that since I am an inveterate hand waver), or sticking my legs out as part of an exercise, all a definite no-no in her eyes, which she feel the need to object to.
Fortunately, I find this amusing!
I haven't seen any Halloween decorations yet, but the colors of this flower is getting me in the mood, because it reminds me of candy corn.

I certainly realised how much I liked going to the supermarket after experiencing the grocery delivery phenomenon because of the pandemic.
