Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully, including my struggles to maintain a balanced life, what I listen to, read, and watch for entertainment, and occasional bits of information I’ve gleaned from doing the research for my novels.
Daily Diary, Day 1308:
All day yesterday, it kept threatening that it was going to rain, but our local weather station registered no precipitation after about 6:30 in the morning. What the weather was like was intermittently sunny, very windy, and there were huge thunderclouds all around the sky, so it was clear that some parts of San Diego were indeed getting rain. The first two photos are from my first walk yesterday morning, and as you can see these pictures were from me standing at the same intersection, the first is taken due west, and you can see some blue sky. The second is due east, with lots of very dark clouds, but where I was standing was bright and sunny!
The third photo is taken on my second walk of the day. While it was threatening rain, it remained was sunny the whole time I walked, but I couldn’t keep my hat on it was so windy. As you might imagine, I enjoyed both the rain and the sun and the clouds and even the wind.
Before I start into my day today, I thought I would share that among the 54 people who responded to my poll on Friday, 33% listed tea as their favorite beverage, 28% listed coffee, 24% listed water, 7% percent listed soft drinks, and another 7 % listed other. So, while a third of you followed in my footsteps, it is clear that at least in your beverages of choice, you are quite varied!
This morning, I’ve done yoga on zoom (my daughter and I were the only ones there), I’ve cleaned, taken my first walk, thet spent an enjoyable hour chatting with Rio the border collie’s owner. Then, ta da! after posting this I am going open up the In Ddaera’s Embrace to editing! See if I can get anything accomplished while making sure I don’t set back my healing hand.
I thought I would also leave you with a perky set of blooms I saw this morning, you can see how bright the sun was by the shadows!
