Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully, including my struggles to maintain a balanced life, what I listen to, read, and watch for entertainment, and occasional bits of information I’ve gleaned from doing the research for my novels.
Daily Diary, Day 1273:
My knuckle continues to become less swollen, although it is still painful. Therefore, once again, I am dictating this particular post. Unfortunately, as this knuckle improves, I’ve gotten another stye which is quite painful and swollen. I am doing what I’ve learned to do, which is soak it three or four times a day, but I will also call my ophthalmologist to get a renewal on the antibiotic cream that I use If soaking doesn’t solve the problem. In the grand scheme of things, these are minor problems, and I did enjoy the chance yesterday to get make progress on my magazine reading.
At least the stye doesn’t interfere with my walking or other exercise. As a result, I did get my full complement of exercise done yesterday, which felt good. And I’ve already had my yoga this morning and my first walk. The yoga studio leader is taking a group of people from her studio to a yoga retreat in Costa Rica, and the next meeting won’t be until Friday after next. I will miss it.
Meanwhile, I plan on trying to use dictation for my writing today and see how that works. Wish me luck.
Here is a lovely rose bloom and bud I saw last evening on my walk.

Do you wash your eye lids? My eye Dr gave me a sample of a special wash for that purpose. Don't know if it will help . . .
