Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully. Occasionally, I will also publish some of my shorter fiction in this newsletter to read for free.
Daily Diary, Day 1622:
The weekend was a mixture of clouds, then sun, then clouds again, which is the forecast for today and tomorrow. However, another even larger storm is being predicted for Southern California than the one from last week, and this one is currently predicted to dip down as far as us, producing rain over Wednesday through Friday.
I did get in a short walk on Saturday, did a lot of cleaning yesterday, and I have also successfully shifted from advil, to Voltaren gel, which is supposed to be much better in terms of having fewer negative side effects if you have to use over a long time. The pain level has been a bit higher, but mostly tolerable until evening. And as with all medicine, it can often take time to have its full effect. So, we shall see.
Saturday and Sunday, I only had one phone call each day, which was unusual. As a result, I started on taxes and started to prepare for a promotion hosted by the History Mystery Chicks on their Facebook page that I am participating in tomorrow. It runs all day and for a half hour (12:30-1 Eastern Standard Time) I will be posting about my Victorian Mystery series and offering a giveaway of the third book in the series, Bloody Lessons. I will remind you all tomorrow in this morning newsletter (and put a link) in case you want to check out other authors or wave to me in the comments during my time period.
This next photo is of the precious wall hanging my daughter got me for xmas, we finally got it hung. Seemed a good companion piece for the A Small Moment of Delight post yesterday. Do go check out the birds in that post if you haven’t seen it yet!
Everything I publish in this newsletter is available to anyone who subscribes, but I am always pleased when someone shows their appreciation for what I am writing by clicking the button below to upgrade to paid, thereby providing me more resources so I can spend more time writing my fiction and less time marketing. In addition, please do click on the heart so I know you’ve been to visit and/or share with your friends, and I always welcome comments! Thanks!
It was 64 degrees and sunny when I was out this afternoon. Windows down, fan on, less creakiness!
Also my doctor has been able (we both hope that stays true) to get me back on the med that works for next month, as opposed to the one that only kind of works. Fingers crossed.
Sweet!
