Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully, including my struggles to maintain a balanced life, what I listen to, read, and watch for entertainment, and occasional bits of information I’ve gleaned from doing the research for my novels.
In addition, now and again I will provide some of my fiction to read, for free, on this newsletter. Everything is available to anyone who subscribes, but I am always pleased when someone shows their appreciation for the newsletter by upgrading to paid.
Daily Diary, Day 1552:
Extremely pleased to announce that the ebook edition of the fifth book in my Caelestis series, Where the Glassflowers Grow is now available on Amazon, Apple, Nook, Kobo, GooglePlay, Smashwords and a host of other small sites.
This was a long writing journey, with a numerous obstacles in the way, but I am really delighted that this fifth book in the Caelestis series (which I started ten years ago) is finally complete.
Today my main tasks are to start the process of publishing a print edition, and then updating the backmatter (with the live link for this new book) in all the other books in the series, and then republishing these books. A rather tedious process but one that does require some concentration. (Once I uploaded the text to the wrong book!)
Finally, if there is time, I want to finish updating my comments on my friend’s manuscript.
I did get 40 minutes of exercise in yesterday, had yoga for 30 minutes first thing this morning, and should be able to do at least another 30 minutes of chair pilates and yoga later in the day.
